“Ipinakita mo na ang pangarap ay posible kung ito’y pagsusumikapan,” a reverberating line in the success story video of Mr. Christian Lamud, Human Resource Development officer of University of Saint Anthony (USANT), which landed 1st place out of 10 regional video entries for the 2021 Student Financial Assistance Program (STUFAPs): My Success Story Video Contest hosted by Commission on Higher Education (CHED), awarded last July 29, 2021 via Zoom.

Lamud, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education-Major in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude of Class 2015, and a recipient of Meritissimus in Oral Revalida award for his Master of Arts in Education this year, has represented the university in the said competition which aimed to showcase the remarkable stories of success of the scholars in their chosen field that has made significant contribution to their families and communities.

The success story video contest is still part of CHED’s celebration of the 1st National Higher Education Day and 27th Founding Anniversary of the commission and was open to graduates of CHED STuFAP Merit Scholars from 1998 to 2015. For 27 years, the commission has awarded scholarships to thousands of poor but deserving students, as its strategy to reduce poverty and to produce locally responsive, innovative, and globally competitive graduates.

Lamud’s success story video, produced by the Creative Media Team of USANT’s College of Teacher Education, will represent the Bicol Region in the National Level whose awarding is set this August during the ASEAN Celebration. Indeed, in the words of Mr. Lamud “Hindi kailanman magiging hadlang ang kahirapan sa taong may pagpupursige at determinasyon.”
