Stories I University of Saint Anthony (USANT) and Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) in Indonesia continue its partnership through an Online Research Supervision Program for undergraduate thesis, facilitated by USANT College of Teacher Education (CTE) Luthfia Rama Dina, an undergraduate student from UIR’s Faculty of Teacher Training, undergone the said Online Research Supervision Program and had her final defense of her thesis titled “Syntactical Error Analysis of Grade XI Recount Texts: Input for English Language Instruction,” on February 22, 2021 via Zoom. Serving as her research advisers were Mr. Rafael V. Oñate, MAED of USANT-CTE and Dr. Rugaiyah., M.Pd of UIR.

Jose B. Ballesteros, Ph.D -USANT’s VP for Academic Affairs, Marilou D. Tino, Ph.D.-Head of USANT’s Research Center, and Arlene O. Monsalve, Ph. D.- Dean of USANT CTE, served as panel members for both pre-oral and final defense.

USANT and UIR’s partnership begun in the year 2019 with a management visit of USANT’s officials to UIR in Indonesia, where a signing of Memorandum of Agreement was also done. It was then followed by the visit of UIR’s senior lecturers to USANT on July 7-12, 2019 as part of its Faculty Exchange Program, which included a simultaneous classroom discussions delivered to USANT students by UIR lecturers.

The recently concluded Online Research Supervision Program is another testament to USANT and UIR’s enduring partnership to continuously uplift their institution’s quality of education amid the challenges brought by the present-day crisis.
